Independent summary

At the recorded £299–£299.99 promotional price, this exact ECAM220.61.GB combines a 250g grinder, 1.8-litre tank, pre-ground bypass and automatic LatteCrema carafe. It is a strong convenience buy when espresso, long coffee and latte macchiato cover the household’s usual drinks, but it is not a broad café-menu machine.

Best for

One-touch latte macchiato without learning to grind, dose or steam milk

Watch out for

Only three of the four buttons are drinks involving coffee—Espresso, Coffee and Latte Macchiato; the fourth is hot water. There is no dedicated one-touch cappuccino, flat white or americano programme. Automatic milk rinsing is not automatic ownership: run CLEAN after the last milk drink, dismantle the carafe within two days, and hand-rinse the infuser monthly. The optional £8.99 DLSC002 filter can model at about £54.69 a year if replaced every two months. Independent taste, milk-temperature, noise, energy and reliability testing is pending, so no CoffeeScore is published.

What else you need

Required purchases, useful extras and later care supplies are kept separate. A connected product is an evidenced option—not a paid placement or the only valid choice.

Same-family decision · manufacturer stated

Which version fits your routine?

These Magnifica Start variants share the basic bean-to-cup platform, but ECAM220.22.GB uses a manual steam frother while ECAM220.61.GB adds the automatic LatteCrema Hot carafe and one-touch latte macchiato.

The automatic-milk model is not maintenance-free: its carafe needs a CLEAN rinse after the last milk drink and full dismantling within two days. Both were about £299 when checked, so milk workflow—not the headline price—is the useful decision boundary.
Model lineage · editorial inference

Which older model is connected?

Both are approachable automatic-milk bean-to-cup routes with 1.8-litre tanks and removable brew units. Philips lists five coffee recipes plus hot water, a 275g ceramic grinder and two-part LatteGo; De’Longhi lists three coffee drinks plus hot water, a 250g grinder and LatteCrema carafe.

This is an editorial inference, not a direct manufacturer comparison. Drink naming and milk hardware differ, and neither machine has an independently tested advantage in taste, temperature, noise or reliability.
