Ninja · Medium daily effort

Luxe Café Premier

A guided portafilter machine combining espresso, filter-style coffee, rapid cold brew, built-in grinding and hands-free milk.

Why it fits this searchA £449.99 checked assisted route with grinder, built-in scale, Barista Assist recommendations and hands-free milk.
Trade-off to checkDespite Ninja calling it bean-to-cup, it is not one-touch: you grind into a portafilter, tamp with a separate tool, move and lock the portafilter, empty the puck and wipe the steam wand. Barista Assist recommends settings and adjusts brewing, but it cannot correct stale beans or remove dialling-in entirely. Ninja's page conflicts with itself on grinder count (19 versus 25), dimensions and weight, so measure for at least the documented 33.6 × 34.4 × 37.2cm working body and allow access around its tanks and hopper. Cleaning includes tablets, filters and a roughly 90-minute descale. Independent espresso, filter, cold-brew, milk, noise and reliability tests are pending.

De'Longhi La Specialista Touch product photograph02
De'Longhi · Medium daily effort

La Specialista Touch

A guided portafilter espresso machine with an integrated grinder, 3.5-inch touchscreen, automatic milk texturing and cold brew.

Why it fits this searchA £499.99 checked touchscreen-guided route with fifteen grinder settings, automatic or manual milk and cold-brew recipes.
Trade-off to checkThis is not one-touch bean-to-cup: you grind into a portafilter, tamp, move it to the group, brew, empty the puck and wipe the milk wand after every use. Published data also conflict: the manual says a 180g hopper and 46cm depth, while Currys says 250g and De’Longhi's sales specification says 36.7cm depth. Measure for the manual's larger footprint and treat nine-versus-ten recipe wording as marketing variation, not an extra drink. Independent taste, milk, noise and durability tests are pending.

Sage Barista Express product photograph03
Sage · High daily effort

Barista Express

A hands-on 54mm espresso machine with a 40mm conical-burr grinder, manual steam wand and unusually complete starter kit.

Why it fits this searchA £499.95 checked hands-on route with an integrated grinder, pressure gauge and manual milk steaming.
Trade-off to checkThis is not one-touch coffee: every drink involves grinding, distributing, tamping, brewing and—if required—manual steaming. The built-in grinder has 16 external settings and is less upgradeable than separate equipment. Ownership also includes hand-washing, after-use steam-wand care, a five-minute prompted backflush, grinder cleaning, unprompted 60–90-day descaling and a water filter nominally every 90 days or 40L; recorded filters alone model at about £61 a year.

the Barista Pro

A hands-on 54mm espresso machine with an integrated 30-setting grinder, fast ThermoJet heating and an LCD workflow display.

Why it fits this searchA £599.95 checked hands-on route with thirty grind settings, an LCD workflow display, ThermoJet heating and manual milk.
Trade-off to checkGrinding is timed rather than weighed, and the machine does not distribute, tamp, attach the portafilter or texture milk for you. The integrated grinder saves space but cannot be upgraded independently. Its 35.4cm width and roughly 40.6cm height need more room than compact separate-machine routes. Cleaning includes prompted tablet backflushing, a separate three-stage descale and after-every-use steam-wand care; Sage says all machine parts must be hand-washed. Currys’ dishwasher-safe and automatic-tamping descriptions conflict with the official manual and should not be relied on. Independent cup quality, steam speed, noise, energy and reliability tests are pending, so no CoffeeScore is published.

Costs and compromises to check

The details that change a good-looking deal.

01Budget for the route, not just the machine

A capable espresso grinder, filters and milk tools can move the usable setup well beyond the headline machine price.

02Choose the milk and cleaning workload

Convenience is a daily feature. Check purge, rinse and milk system care before assuming two similarly priced machines feel alike.

03Confirm the exact model at checkout

Retail listings can group variants. Match the model code, dimensions, included accessories and final delivered price.

Use this page to narrow—not outsource—the decision.

Independent coffee quality, noise, speed and reliability testing is still pending where a product record says so. Confirm the exact model, checkout price, dimensions and ownership work.
